Stockton's first Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Christmas was so fun this year! Even though Stockton had no idea what was going on, it was still fun to see him look at his presents.

This Christmas definitely had a different feeling. Having a baby has changed the way I look at so many things! As I held Stockton this Christmas season, I thought a lot about the Savior. I thought about how much I love Stockton, and how much Mary must have loved Jesus. I'm thankful that we have this time each year to think not about the gifts, but about the Savior. This was the first year the true meaning of Christmas really hit me. And because of that, this year was the best!!!!

Thanksgiving 2010

Rather than decide where to spend Thanksgiving this year, we chose to bite the bullet and eat two fantastic meals :)

Thursday was spent at my Mom & Dads house. It was the first year my family has been all together in almost 10 years! We played games, ate great food, and took turns holding some cute babies.

The next morning, Bryce and I split up for the day to go Black Friday shopping. Between Kohl's, Target, Babies-R-Us, & The Rack... we saved some serious coin!

Saturday, we drove to Cedar City to spend time with Bryce's family. The dinner was great, but it didn't compare to the vicious game of monopoly we played later that night. (Man the Nelson's can get competitive!)

The next morning, we woke up to a blizzard and spent about 6 hours driving home. Such a fun weekend!

Halloween 2010

Our 5th annual Hallowen party.

We were characters from Alice in Wonderland

The Arthurs

Tyler and Emily

The Koellikers

Nic and Bryce

My dad and mom

The Andersons

The Hollands

All of my girlfriends

Halloween is our favorite holiday. We love it even more than Chirstmas! This year (aside from an uninvited guest who brought creepy spiders, scorpions, snakes and illigal ALLIGATORS into our house) was tons of fun! Bryce and I tend to go a little overboard on the costumes... but we can't help it. We just love to get all dressed up and see the neighborhood kid's smiling faces when we answer the door.
Since most of our friends are getting to the stage in life where they want to take their kids trick-or-treating in their own neighborhoods, we decided that this will probably be our last year holding our annual costume party on the 31st.
Thanks to everyone who came!

Three Months

Stockton is three months old! Time has gone by way to fast!!!!
Things that Stockton does:
smiles
laughs
almost holds his head up
sometimes rolls over from his tummy to his back
recognizes mom and dad
Last measurements:
11 lbs
22 inches
(these are pretty much all the same pictures, I couldn't choose between them.)
Fuzz is such a good dog, he just lays by Stockton anytime he's on the floor.

Little smile

He's so much fun!!

Stockton's Blessing

August 1st we blessed Stockton, and it was such a great day!!! I'm so thankful that Bryce holds the priesthood and was able to bless our little guy. Bryce did such a great job!! My mom keeps telling me that it was like he has blessed 5 other babies, he was so calm and mentioned many great blessings. I'm so thankful for my little Stockton. He has been such a sweet blessing to us. He has brought a sweeter spirit into our home. It's amazing to me how much I love him!!! I feel so lucky to be his mom!
We are so grateful for our families and friends who came to support us. We are so blessed to be surrounded by so many people who love our little family.

Baby Update

Stockton Murdock Nelson
May 11, 2010
9:17 pm
4 lbs 14 oz
16 1/2 inches
On May 11th I went to my weekly doctor's appointment thinking that the doctor would schedule for me to get induced soon because of my high blood pressure. Well, when the nurse checked my blood pressure it was through the roof!! The doctor came in and told us that we were going to have a baby TODAY. I was not prepared for that news at all!!! We checked into the hospital @ 12 and once we were in our room I started to freak out. I told Bryce I wasn't ready to have a baby! I should still have 3 more weeks to prepare myself!

At 1 pm the doctor came in and broke my water (not fun!). Then they started the IV's to start inducing me. And around 2:30 I got the epidural. I didn't need it yet at that point, but let's face it, I didn't want to get to the point I needed it. Then @ 8 they checked and I was ready to deliver.

Because Stockton was 3 weeks early, they had a special team there for him. Which I was so happy they were there. Once he was born they rushed him over and started working to get him to breathe. That felt like the longest minute ever!!! Bryce and I just watched waiting to see his little chest moving. Then they cleaned him up, let me hold him for 30 seconds and took him to the NICU. Where he spent the next 6 days to make sure he could nurse and gain weight.

(After delivering. And WOW, I look tired)

For the most part, things have been so much easier than I thought they would be. Labor and recovery was much less painful than I imagined. True he was less than 5 lbs, but my body still went through the process. :) And Stockton is so easy going! I was afraid I was going to have a screaming baby. All in all this has been such a great experience.
The day Stockton finally came home from the hospital

He hates to have his arms tucked into the blanket. Somehow, he always gets his arms out.

The day he came home. (sorry I can't seem to turn the picture)

Our little family.
I've never been happier!! Even Bryce has mentioned that I have a different attitude and that I seem happier. I told him it's because all of my dreams have finally come true!! I love this little guy so much!!!

Help!

I have been driving myself freaking crazy over Stockton's nursery. I know it really isn't a big deal, and I should be involving myself with more important things. I just can't make a decision, and so therefore I'm going crazy thinking about it all the time.
For some reason I'm very anxious to get the room put together. I'm only 23 1/2 weeks, so I have TONS of time! I just want to get the crib and bedding quickly. I have looked and looked and looked some more for boy bedding that both Bryce and I like. In the process I've found tons of girl bedding that I like, of coarse. :) Anyway, I've narrowed it down to two choices. One I like, the other Bryce likes.  I'm hoping to get some help in choosing what bedding we should get.

This is my choice. I think it has clean lines and a classic feel. My problem with it is that I think it looks best with white furniture. And I think white furniture can be kind of girly.
Both nursery sets will have Stockton's name written out by a plane like it shows in this picture. The plane would just be a different color for the next nursery set.
Bryce likes this bedding. I think its cute, but it looks kind of like denim. Not that there is anything wrong with denim, I just don't like it. So I would buy different fabric and make a new bed skirt.  With chocolate colored furniture and bedding this is $45 more.

It's a.......

BOY!!!!!

Stockton Murdock Nelson
(at least that's what we think we'll name him)

This week has been the longest week of my life! I have been so excited to find out what we are having! For about the last week I've been sure it is a boy. The doctor said everything looks great. I don't think we could be any happier right now! We can't wait to meet him!!!

His little profile. Doesn't it look like he is going to have a huge upper lip!! LOL!

little legs and feet (hips on the right, feet on the left)

his arms and hands covering his face

His little, ya know... :)
The nurse said "go shopping and throw away your receipts, he is definitely a boy."
